“You enter the extraordinary by doing what you believe.”
PURSUING JUSTICE AND MERCY, TOGETHER, IN THE SPIRIT OF HUMILITY.
The wheels of change grind slowly, yet we’ve experienced justice and mercy in some of the most unlikely places by some of the most surprising people. We have seen it first hand — thousands, tens of thousands, rising from ashes. Some have experienced remarkable, miraculous changes. But most have overcome overwhelming challenges through proven, uncelebrated ways — community-led savings groups, nutrition strategies pioneered by mothers or trauma-informed resilience practices to name a few.
One Million Thumbprints, for example, has helped thousands of women and girls in Congo and the Middle East. Has violence decreased in the Congo? Statistically, yes. But much of that relates to less violence due to less conflict. What we can point to is the hundreds of women and girls who are working everyday with their sisters to overcome their trauma and prevent further violence. They are experiencing tangible change.
Despite the tremendous headwinds, there is plenty of evidence for change. Justice and mercy are not too far off or elusive. Hope too.
We launch ministry startups where it’s toughest, cultivate resilience with the bravest, and rally people to love their neighbors. Take at look at the Mission Venture Fund focused on helping social entrepreneurs start ministry ventures in some of the world’s most difficult places, and Rooted and Rising, a trauma recovery and resilience initiative with former refugee communities in the United States.
We are also convening and supporting friends and organizations from around the world who feel our long-held commitment to compassion is under threat, and who want to seriously consider the question, “Who is my neighbor?”
